AlphaDream, the developers of the Mario & Luigi series, files for bankruptcy

AlphaDream, the developers of the Mario & Luigi series, entered bankruptcy proceedings with the Tokyo District Court yesterday.

The company, founded in 1991, entered the video game industry as Alpha Star in 2000. According to Japanese Nintendo, “company turnover was as high as ¥300m ($2.78m) in March 2014 but the company’s debts were as much as ¥465m ($4.3m) by March 2018”.
