The Senate Judiciary Committee approved Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination, but Senator Jeff Flake called for a full FBI investigation into the allegations of sexual abuse made against the judge from three women, regarding three separate situations when Brett Kavanaugh was in his teens and early 20s.
The House Republicans agreed with the delay, and President Trump reversed his original desire to proceed with a Senate vote without an FBI investigation. On Thursday, the president stated on Twitter that “Judge Kavanaugh showed America exactly why I nominated him. His testimony was powerful, honest, and riveting. Democrats’ search and destroy strategy is disgraceful and this process has been a total sham and effort to delay, obstruct, and resist. The Senate must vote!”

However, by Friday, after the House Republicans decided to delay the floor vote for an FBI investigation into the accusations, the President had the FBI reopen the investigation into Judge Kavanaugh’s past, stating on Twitter that the United States “just started, tonight, our 7th FBI investigation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. He will someday be recognized as a truly great Justice of The United States Supreme Court!”
