Following in Nintendo’s footsteps, Sony has announced a microconsole of its own, complete with a similar name to Nintendo’s offerings, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System Classic Edition and the Nintendo Entertainment System Classic Edition.
The PlayStation Classic, a microconsole designed like a miniature PlayStation, will include 20 built-in games and two controllers. Five of the twenty built-in games have been revealed so far: Final Fantasy VII, Tekken 3, R4: Ridge Racer Type 4, Jumping Flash! and Wild Arms.
It will be released on December 3rd and, despite the fact that only five of the fifteen games have been revealed, it is now available to pre-order in North America from major outlets for $99.99 USD or $129.99 CAN, including Walmart, Best Buy, and GameStop.
Information about regional availability, and at a later point, further information about the games included, will be posted at the official website.
The WE Computers Museum, a sister site to MIC News, has more information about each microconsole, including the NES Classic Edition, the SNES Classic Edition, and the PlayStation Classic.
